Sam will be sharing his extensive expertise on the panel titled “The Future of Financial Crime,” scheduled for 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM. This session promises to be a deep dive into the evolving landscape of financial crime, examining the latest strategies and tactics employed by criminals and projecting future trends. Sam, along with other distinguished panelists, will also explore how crypto analytics companies are partnering with banks and regulators to not only combat current financial threats but also anticipate and neutralize emerging risks.

With a career that spans prominent roles at the Department of Justice and significant contributions in the private sector, Sam’s insights are shaped by his vast experience in both public and private arenas. At Athena Bitcoin, he leads our global compliance operations, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements across five countries. His work is pivotal in safeguarding our operations and fostering trust in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Before joining Athena, Sam played a key role in the DOJ as Deputy Assistant Attorney General and Senior Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Division. His leadership was instrumental in overseeing corporate criminal resolutions and managing investigations into FCPA and AML violations. Sam’s distinguished career also includes dismantling major criminal organizations and leading high-profile AML investigations in the private sector.
